The Department of Infrastructure welcomes public views on the recent flooding.
Operations director for the DoI Jeffrey Robinson has written to authorities explaining that the Flood Risk Management Group is to engage a consultancy firm to consider options for long-term tidal flood defences of the island’s ports.
The exercise will be a review of the possible options, along with the cost of implementation. Following the review, the DoI will undertake a cost-benefit analysis for each of the credible solutions.
Ramsey Commissioners’ chief technical officer Steve Harrison told the board: ‘Over the course of the recent floods, some members of the public have suggested ideas for protecting our towns to the department. Mr Robinson will take this opportunity to submit these to their consultant for consideration. Likewise, the commissioners may have received, or have ideas, for the town, which will be submitted’.
He aded further public views would be welcomed.
