Commercial vehicle must have been used to steal lead

Police are investigating the theft of some lead in the south of the island.

Some time between Saturday and Monday, what the police say was ‘a sizeable quantity of scrap lead’ was stolen from the the rear yard of premises bordering Station Road and Droghadfayle Road, Port Erin.

A spokesman said: ‘Due to the amount and weight of the lead taken a commercial size vehicle must have been used.’

Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen anything suspicious in this area contact Constable Mark Langley at Castletown police station.
