CROSSFIT IOM have had the ribbon cut to officially open their Braddan gym.
And members celebrated by doing what they know best: a gruelling work out.
Kirk Michael couple Dan Bonett and Erin Callister opened their Kirby Farm Industrial Estate fitness centre in September, but used the official opening as a chance to show friends and family what members have been up to, and also raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society in the process.
Special guest and ribbon-cutter was UK CrossFit athlete Steven Fawcett.
Erin said: ‘He is one of the best CrossFit athletes in England, and he’s one of the reasons we first got into it.’
For the ceremony there was a raffle and bottle and food stalls, before members split into two teams of 17 for a competitive workout, cheered on by family and friends.
‘It was good to show people what we do here, and we also managed to raise £356 for the Alzheimer’s Society,’ said Erin, who chose the charity because her own grandmother – who was at the opening – suffers from the condition.
The fitness community seemed to have taken to the new gym’s approach, which is based around intense circuit training with Erin and Dan this week having to increase the number of sessions they offer.
