The Children’s Centre is looking for hardy adventurers for its seventh overseas challenge, a trek across the Sahara Desert.
Between November 12 and 18, fundraisers will journey to the timeless landscape and raise money for the charity with Global Adventure Challenges.
More than 30 people attended a launch evening last week to find out more.
Fundraising co-ordinator Mark Eastham said: ‘It was great so many people were able to attend and it proves that spirit of adventure is still alive and kicking.
‘Signing up to any of our overseas challenges is a big commitment, and the aim of the evening was to make sure people are fully aware of what’s involved before signing on the dotted line.’
The trek is open to anyone who is over 18. Participants need to raise a minimum of £750. Highlights include the spectacular sunrise over the Chigaga Dunes, riding on camel trains, and a glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of the nomadic Tuaregs
