Applications are open for the annual sixth form scholarship examinations at King William’s College.
The exams are open to all school pupils due to enter lower sixth, or Year 12, in September 2015 and academic scholarships, as well as music, drama and sports awards are available.
The deadline for applications is Friday, November 7, and the exams will take place on Saturday, November 15.
They consist of papers in English, mathematics and an additional subject chosen by the candidate. This would normally be a subject they expect to study at higher level as part of the International Baccalaureate Diploma.
Candidates for the music and drama awards will undergo a practical assessment, while candidates for the sporting awards will be expected to demonstrate a high level of proficiency in two of the major sports played at the college.
All candidates are also required to attend an interview and should normally be under 17 years of age on September 1 of the year of entry.
Joss Buchanan, vice-principal at King William’s College, said: ‘Participation in the International Baccalaureate is open to all, and equips students with experiences, skills and qualifications which are broad, portable and will open doors to the truly global commercial environment which awaits them. We have increasingly witnessed the top UK universities actively recruiting IB students.”
