Correspondence from the public to Castletown Commissioners should be submitted via the town clerk Eddie Convery.
‘Before any item is placed onto the agenda, the clerk will verify that all the information is included,’ Mr Kevin Weir told the board’s meeting. If he feels more information is required he will contact the sender for more information.
‘The procedure is always the same. The town clerk is ensuring the board has as much information as possible. Anybody who sends any correspondence in here, it will go through the town clerk.’
‘It’s an absolute load of nonsense,’ said Colin Leather. ‘If someone intends to write to the commissioners they can write (to them). That’s what we’re elected for.’
Alwyn Collister added: ‘You cannot stop the public talking to you. If they want to write a letter it should go to the town clerk or a commissioner.’
Mr Weir said he made the comment to inform the public about ‘the workings of the authority’ and that it was the clerk’s job to ‘find out all the information’.
