Fine food awaits TT visitors as the renowned TT Teas make a return to Bride Church hall, in Point of Ayre Road.

This will be the 22nd year that the cafe has operated and will be up and running each day until next Saturday (June 7) from midday to 5pm.

All food is home-made using local produce.

There is also a vintage bike and memorabilia display in the nearby Bride Methodist chapel hall, including magazines, books and vintage photographs.

Lesley Kneen described what exactly the exhibition will entail. She said: ‘There will be all kinds of vintage motorbikes and some have been especially rebuilt for the TT.

‘Both church and chapel will be working together and it’s also the first time we’ve done something like this.

‘The church is on the way to the Point of Ayre where most TT tourists visit, so they must stop in for a TT Tea in order to fully experience the TT!’

Last year, Bride Methodist Church celebrated 21 years of the TT Teas, which offers teas and coffees, home-made cakes, sandwiches, scones and toasties, as well as the favoured lemon meringue pie.

Recently the church also asked members of the public what they would like to see printed on its souvenir mugs to sell at the TT Teas.

As usual there will be tea towels for sale that feature the iconic TT Course.

The event began on June 1, 1992, when the then rector’s wife of Bride, Elizabeth Sheen, along with Daphne Faithorne, came up with the idea of serving teas in the church hall during TT week.

TT Teas are now so popular that last year bikers insisted that the church should also function during the Isle of Man Festival of Motorcycling, to which members of Bride Church responded by opening for the Bank Holiday weekend last August.

There are still members from the original helpers, including Elizabeth Sheen.

To make your way to the Bride Methodist Church, head out of Ramsey towards the Point of Ayre (A10), stay on that road until you reach the roundabout where you will see St Bridget’s Church in front, with the hall approximately 100 yards on the left.
