This Easter Monday there is the chance to try out the new orienteering courses at Archallagan Plantation.

The courses were created by William Higgins, a teacher at Cronk-y-Berry Primary School in Douglas – 28 children from the school were the first to have a go on one of the courses last December.

But now members of the public are being invited to have a go exploring one of the new permanent orienteering courses at the plantation on Monday, to give the whole family an opportunity to get involved. However, people can access the four courses whenever they like.

A map of the course and description sheets can be picked up between 9.30am and 10.30am, for a cost of 50p, from the starting point which is the Archallagan Road car park.

The course will take approximately an hour and half at the most to complete.

Mr Higgins said: ‘This is a recreational opportunity and is not a competition.’

This will be a muddy event so people are advised to wear suitable clothing and bring a pen to record answers as they travel the course.

For more information call Mr Higgins on 827620.
