Robinson’s Floristry Centre has been launched and is now a more high profile location and ideal ‘showcase’ for visitors and customers.
Renowned UK florist Muriel Simpson officially opened the new centre at Ballapaddag, Cooil Road, Braddan
She and fellow expert Craig Bullock as well as local floral clubs were also on hand. There were special displays outside which were well received by visitors last Thursday night.
Mark Hotchkiss, floristry manager, told Business News he was excited by the new facility. He said: ‘Before, we were temporarily based in a portable building and we had a smaller shed round the side.
‘This construction started last July and it was complete at the beginning of December last year.
‘It’s been a busy time for us now we have Easter coming up as well. It’s a big operation and whenever we have people come and see us they say things like: ‘‘wow, we did not know you were here.’’
‘We are trying to open it up a bit more so that we can showcase our work. It is going down well with our customers.’
Mr Hotchkiss added: ‘It’s a facility that we have never had the luxury of before so we can show off and showcase our work. We also have a new meeting room and generally it’s a nicer environment.’
Robinson’s as a business has a proud history going back 125 years, said Mr Hotchkiss.
Post-a-Rose was amalgamated into the Robinson’s side of things in 2009. It’s truly a global industry in the floral world. Mr Hotchkiss points to flowers from Holland and more unusual varieties from far flung places such as Ecuador, Columbia and Costa Rica.
