Kennaugh receives MBE

Olympic cyclist Peter Kennaugh has received his MBE at a special ceremony performed by the island’s Lieutenant Governor Adam Wood.

The official presentation was also attended by around 50 of Mr Kennaugh’s friends and family.

Mr Kennaugh, who is 24 and comes from Onchan, was a gold medal winner at last year’s London Olympics as part of the British team pursuit cycling team.

His efforts were recognised in this year’s New Year’s Honours list.

THe ceremony took place at Government House in the island - rather than at Buckingham Palace - so Mr Kennaugh could fit it in with his cycling commitments.

He is to leave the island again on Wednesday to take part in this year’s Tour de France.
