A phone charger that had been left plugged in to the wall set fire to a bedroom at White Hoe on Thursday night.
A bed caught light on the first floor of the property and a man on the scene tackled the fire using a CO2 extinguisher and believed the fire was out.
The charging cable that had been disconnected from the unit but left switched on at the socket. This cable was left lying on the top of the bed where arcing in the damaged cable caused the bed sheet to ignite.
The fire service says you should check charges’ conditions.
