UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage opened an offshore trust plan in the Isle of Man, the front page of a UK national newspaper reports today.
The headline on page 1 of the Daily Mirror is: {http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/ukip-leader-nigel-farage-admits-1972988|‘Farage set up offshore fund to avoid tax’.}
Mr Farage told the Mirror: ‘It was a mistake. I’m not rich enough.’
The paper dismisses the island as a ‘tax haven’.
In an accompanying article entitled ‘Why rich leg it to the Isle of Man’, the paper claims that ‘Tax and secrecy are the biggest industries on the Isle of Man’ and goes on to describe the ‘murky side of island life, helping criminals and tax dodgers hide cash’.
