Town calling on buskers to come forward to entertain

Ramsey Commissioners are inviting applications from street entertainers wishing to perform within the precincts of the Courthouse in Parliament Street.

The commissioners now have a licence under the Music and Dance Act 1961 and street entertainers will be required to hold an authorised permit to perform in the area.

Ramsey Commissioners’ chairman Captain Nigel Malpass said: ‘Thanks to the Ramsey regeneration scheme the Courthouse grounds have regained their role as a year-round community space with the potential to create a vibrant atmosphere in the heart of the town’s retail centre.

‘We see the area serving as a magnet to street entertainers, so would welcome applications from all categories of performers, from singers to musicians, dance groups to choral groups. In short, any artist who believes they can add to the mix of street theatre.’

Applications for a licence can be downloaded from ramsey.gov.im. Forms are also available from Ramsey town hall. Applicants may be required to audition.
