Three more people have been selected to bring awareness about the reality of extreme poverty to the island.

Helen Ashcroft of Port St Mary, Rosemary Clarke of Peel and Vicki Rowberry of Douglas have been chosen as ambassadors for the Global Poverty Project (GPP).

They join Kristina Crawford, an ambassador since January 2012 and winner of the GPP ambassador of the year award.

Vicki described Kristina as an ‘inspirational role model and mentor’, adding: ‘I am so excited to have been given the opportunity to be involved in such a groundbreaking movement.’

They took up the Live Below the Line challenge to spend just £1 a day on food.

Double the number of residents took part compared with 2012, raising just under £2,000 to help end extreme poverty.

They will promote the Enough Food For Everyone IF campaign (www.enoughfoodif.org) by supporting paper plate messages being presented from groups/schools to MHKs on Tuesday.

And they will deliver the 1.4 Billion Reasons presentation, with the first public presentation next Saturday (May 25) at Northern Lights Community Centre, Ramsey.

To book a presentation, contact Rosemary Clarke on 800464 or info@owciom.org
