FISHERMEN have dredged up the dead body of a person several miles off the coast of Ramsey.
The police were told about it and the lifeboat was launched to assist in the recovery of the body.
Police inspector Juan Kinley said: ‘Due to the condition of the body, the gender and cause of death remain unknown.
‘We are working closely with colleagues from neighbouring police forces to identify the person. We do not believe the person was from the island.’
The fishermen found the body on Friday and police revealed details about it this afternoon (Monday).
The Coroner of Inquests has been informed.
