Junior Journalist of the Year, sponsored by Celton Manx, is a competition which invites school children to apply their literacy skills to a series of briefs linked to the National Literacy Strategy and the Manx History Curriculum.
The skills are recognised through the publicity generated by the Isle of Man Courier, Manx Independent, Isle of Man Examiner and here on iomtoday.
The Junior Journalist of the Year briefs cover requirements under the National Curriculum and all school children at primary school on the Isle of Man are invited to take part.
There are six different briefs; one for each school year to ensure the concept of the brief suits the age group. We have ensured that participation is simple for both teachers and pupils, to encourage good entries. Entrants should register with {mailto:sally-ann.maiden@newsiom.co.im|sally-ann.maiden(at)newsiom.co.im}.
There will be a prize presentation in June 2013. Photographs of the presentations and winning articles will be reproduced in a specially produced Junior Journalist of the Year supplement which will be distributed with the Manx Independent.
