FIXED-TERM tenancies for are to be introduced for people who live in council or commissioners’ houses.
From April this year, all new tenancies will be awarded for a fixed period of two years in a move announced by the Department of Social Care. It is a first step towards means testing.
It will allow for tenancy terms to be changed and the rent increased where there has been a change in circumstances, such as a significant rise in income.
