THE Mountain Road has reopened.
This follows the news earlier this afternoon after the Department of Infrastructure opened up roads in the Roundtable area.
Along with the Mountain Road, the routes from Roundtable to Colby Glen, Roundtable to Dalby and Roundtable to Ballamodha are now all open although drivers are, of course, urged to proceed with caution.
Meanwhile, Barregarrow crossroads to Brandywell Cottage and Druidale from Ballaugh Glen to Ballaugh plantation are described as passable with care.
The Injebreck, Beinney Phott and Druidale roads will remain closed until at least midday tomorrow (Friday) when a review will be taken.
The DoI will again be concentrating tomorrow’s efforts on high level routes, however it is understood there are still substantial amounts of snow and ice in a number of locations. Snow blowing equipment and excavators will work in conjunction with the gritting teams.
A further assessment of road conditions will be undertaken again in the morning and efforts will continue to open these roads as quickly as possible.
The Mountain Road opened for a little over two hours yesterday (Wednesday) evening, but was soon closed as snow was swept back into the carriageway, making driving conditions hazardous.
iomtoday will continue to bring you the latest details as the informtaion comes to light.
