Arbory parish’s annual celebration, Laa Columb Killey, will take place on Thursday.
This great community event is over 100 years old. It is on a large scale, requiring many hours of help from volunteers with tasks from erecting the huge marquees to making sandwiches.
This year the fair follows a traditional and time honoured format.
The fancy dress parade leaves the parish hall at 2.45pm and – led by Castletown Metropolitan Sílver Band - processes to the fair field, where the event will be opened by Jim Crebbin, who was awarded the British Empire Medal last year.
Arbory Festival Princess Esther Leece will be crowned, with her attendant Rhian Masson.
This is followed by a display of Manx dancing by Arbory school children.
Then the exhibition tents – with exhibits ranging from vegetables and handicraft to art work - will open.
There are other attractions such as a coconut shy and bouncy castle.
Tea, sandwiches and cakes are in plentiful supply in the tea tent.
From 4.30pm there are sporting events and at 7.05pm an auction of donated exhibits (proceeds go to charity).
Entry to the festival is a donation (minimum £5); entry to the tea tent is a further donation (minimum £4).
On Friday. June 24, in the marquee there is music and dancing with Tarroo Marroo Ceili Band 6.30pm to 9pm. Admission is £2 (under 18) or £3 for over 18.
