Former TT competitor and company director John McBride will stand for Douglas East in September’s general election.
Born and raised in east Douglas and educated at Douglas High School and Isle of Man College, he contested the seat at the 2015 by-election.
He said: ‘I believe East Douglas is the cornerstone of our economy and the gateway to our island. I am glad my previous manifesto had the effect of alerting some of our politicians to this fact.
‘We need East Douglas to be a vibrant showcase for the island and what it has to offer, with an urgently refurbished promenade roadway and ease of parking around the town as the first priority.’
John is a fellow of the Institute of the Motor Industry, and past chairman of the island’s Retail Motor Industry Federation. He chairs the Manx Grand Prix Riders Association and is vice chairman of the Isle of Man ACU Centre. He is also chairman of 1st Douglas Scout Group.
