Onchan Commissioner Rob Callister has announced his intention to seek re-election in the local authority general election in April.
Mr Callister has been an Onchan commissioner since 2012 and will stand for re-election on April 28.
He said: ‘Over the four years I genuinely believe I have served the authority and the ratepayers to the best of my abilities. I feel it is important that Onchan constituents are given an opportunity to elect a Board of Commissioners with the energy, enthusiasm and drive, along with the right level of business acumen to fully represent the authority and ratepayers for the next four years.
‘As an individual commissioner, I have not been afraid to go beyond the comfort of the boardroom in order to research topics or to keep constituents fully informed or to put pressure on Government departments when additional costs to be transferred onto the authority do not stand up to further scrutiny. If re-elected I will continue to serve the whole of the Onchan Community without “fear or favour” towards individuals, government and the local authority.’
The deadline to register to vote or stand as a candidate is March 18.
