No stone will be left unturned as former Manx Radio broadcaster Roy McMillan’s new series of sketches taking a satirical look at life in the island are brought to life.

The Headlines Again...Again takes place at the Centenary Centre on Saturday (October 31) in what is a follow-up to one of the funniest series of shows the Peel venue has ever seen.

Money raised from the event will go towards a new ceiling for the Centenary Centre’s theatre.

Director Dave McLean explained: ‘The next fundraising event is a repeat of the very popular The Headlines Again.

‘This was a show that was produced at the centre about eight years ago by local radio presenters and Roly Drower, now sadly deceased, consisting of a hugely funny dose of gentle satire lampooning local celebrities.

‘Roy McMillan, the popular Manx Radio presenter now working for Radio 4 at the BBC has agreed to return to the island and write a new series of sketches with the original title of The Headlines Again...Again!’

The evening will also include poetry from the witty pen of Vinty Kneale along with music from Beastie Dovey, Donal McMahon and Barry Pitts.

Dave said the Centenary Centre had been ‘very lucky’ this year to have some of the most talented performers in the island pitch in to raise funds for the ongoing maintenance costs of the building.

The cost to refurbish the whole ceiling in the theatre will cost more than £25,000.

‘The Lottery Trust have generously offered a large amount of money to help with the job and the Centre volunteers are busy raising the balance in association with the Friends of the Centenary Centre,’ Dave said.

The Headlines Again...Again takes place on Saturday, October 31, from 8pm.

Tickets for the show cost £8.

They are available from Celtic Gold, Peel; Peter Norris Music, Douglas; Shakti Man, Ramsey; and Thompson Travel, Port Erin.

More information and tickets are also available online on the Centenary Centre’s website, www.centenarycentre.com
