Work began this week on improving the footpath in Port St Mary’s shopping area.
The existing footpath will be replaced with a mixture of concrete paving flags and stones and granite-like kerbs. The dropped kerbs and tactile paving at junctions will be renewed.
Work will take place from the pedestrian crossing at Scoill Phurt Le Moirrey to Living Hope Community Church, south of Gellings Avenue.
Work will be phased to maintain access to shops and businesses, particularly in the busy period leading up to Christmas. Traffic management and a suspension of parking will be required in sections to minimise disruption.
It is expected to take 13 weeks to complete.
The improvements to Bay View Road were identified as a priority by the South West Regeneration Committee, as rejuvenation of the port’s main retail area.
