Douglas Council is considering a novel way to address the ever controversial problem of dog fouling in the capital.
A special stencil is to be used to put an anti-dog fouling message directly on to the pavement where councillors feel dog walkers are likely to look if their pet defaecates.
Counicllors were told a similar system was in use in the Wirral and had proved to be effective.
The message would be written using bio-degradable paint which washes away gradually with time. The matter is to be investigated and a report prepared.
Councillor Stephen Pitts said dog fouling was one of the single issues which attracted most complaints from the public.
A scheme targeting problem dog fouling areas using luminous posters proved successful last year with a noticable reduction of incidents. This campaign is also to be continued this year in different locations around Douglas where there is perceived to be a problem
