SHOPPERS got more than they bargained for in Strand Street this morning (Thursday).
Police cordoned off the pedestrian area outside the former Leisure Inn arcade, after an incident involving a truck with a long arm, which is used to pour cement on to the site.
A police spokesman said a crane was needed to right the vehicle.
A spokesman for the Department of Infrastructure’s health and safety inspectorate said: ‘The chief inspector is down at the site at the moment. He was called out of the office.’
No-one was injured in the incident.
No further details have been released.
The arcade has been demolished and the site is being redeveloped for high street chain Topshop.
