An information day is being held tomorrow (Friday) with the aim of raising awareness of the services available for the elderly and their carers in the east of the island.
Organised by the Department of Health and Social Care, ‘Supporting Older People in Mann’ takes place at the Manx Legion Club, Market Hill between 10am and 3.30pm, and will feature providers and associated agencies.
Following on from similar events across the island, the day aims to bring information, advice, support and expertise together at one venue, with more than 20 organisations attending, including representatives from Treasury, community social workers, Live at Home scheme, Manx Retirement Association and Crossroads Care.
Free tea and coffee will be provided by the Manx Legion Club and all proceeds from a raffle will be divided between the Club and Douglas Live at Home Scheme.
David Quirk MHK, the politician responsible for adult social care services, said: ‘By promoting the services available we can help empower more of our older people and their carers to make choices.’
