Encumbered in a furry dog suit and carrying a weighty collection bucket, SARDA dog handler Jim Macgregor has raised £163 for charity.
Jim, who is part of the SARDA Isle of Man team along with his border collie Star, is donating the money to SARDA Wales which gives huge support and collaborates on training with the Isle of Man team.
Despite wearing the full dog suit, Jim completed the 26-mile course on Sunday in four hours and 27 minutes.
‘I think I may have upset a few people who may not have liked being overtaken by a dog,’ he said.
‘Bizarrely my only injury was a grazed nose, caused by the dog head rubbing on it.’
The dog suit, which is also the SARDA charity’s mascot has completed a variety of challenges over the years. With the help of Jim. it has completed a section of the Parish Walk ending in Peel, and it is no stranger to marathon running having previously competed in the London Marathon.
Always versatile, Jim has also completed the Tin Bath races in Castletown whilst keeping his fur bone dry, as it were.
SARDA Isle of Man is a Manx charity and its handlers and navigators are all unpaid volunteers. The organisation relies entirely on donations from the public and from organisations both on and off the Isle of Man.
