ISLE of Man Sport Aid have announced a new partnership agreement with local training and business skills development company TLC which will allow Sport Aid to continue to invest in up and coming sporting talent.
The partnership will see TLC sponsoring one of the prestigious Sport Aid scholarships as well as contributing towards the ongoing costs of the Isle of Man Sport Institute and assisting towards the promotion of Sport Aid to potential sponsors.
The partnership will also see TLC utilise surplus capacity in the Tower Insurance Sports Education Suite for a number of their popular training courses, thus maximising the use of the facility during quieter periods.
Gary Corkhill, chairman of Isle of Man Sport Aid said: ‘We are delighted to have signed this Partnership Agreement with TLC and look forward to working with them to help us to continue supporting the island’s best young athletes.
‘Everyone is aware of the current economic situation, so it is particularly timely that we are announcing this agreement now so we can continue to help the next Mark Cavendish or Zoe Gillings on the road to sporting success.’
Sue Gee, managing director of TLC said:’In many ways, this is a continuation of TLC’s policy engagement with and support for the community. We are proud to sponsor a Sport Aid scholarship, and we hope that our contributions in other ways will help the stars of the future. TLC and Sport Aid have much in common in that we both try to help people to fulfil their potential.’
Isle of Man Sport Aid is a registered charity established by Isle of Man Sport to assist the most talented of the Isle of Man’s sportsmen and women. Among those either currently supported or who have been supported in recent years are Mark Cavendish, David Knight, Peter Kennaugh, Zoe Gillings and Conor Cummins. In 2006 Sport Aid established the Isle of Man Institute of Sport which became the Isle of Man Sport Institute when a new purpose built facility was opened at the NSC in 2009.
