Pupils in Alice the Musical

CHILDREN from St Thomas’ School, in Finch Road, Douglas, took to the stage for a performance of Alice the Musical.

The show, which took place at Loch Promenade Methodist Church, in Douglas, involved pupils from reception to Year 6 (ages four to 11).

There were a number of solo singing performances.

They were performed by Emily Sayle, who played the part of Alice, as well as Jake Cullen (the White Rabbit), Adam Godby (the Mad Hatter), Christian Cooper (the Mouse), Rebecca Ormesher (the Mock Turtle) and Ben Haworth (the Gryphon).

Teacher Claire Stubbs said that the show was the culmination of about six weeks’ work by the children.

She said: ‘All the children worked really hard to learn their lines, the songs, their dances and help make all the props and this resulted in a wonderful show.

‘Many of the parents have commented on what an enjoyable evening it was, how brilliant they thought the show was and how professionally the children performed.’

She added: ‘They really enjoyed it.

‘They developed their drama and singing skills and they had a lot of fun.’

The show, which is based on the popular book Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, was attended by 140 people.

It centres on a girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit hole into the fantasy world of Wonderland.

She meets various characters including The Mad Hatter before finally escaping the fantasy world while the Queen of Hearts is shouting ‘Off with her head!’
