ISLAND-BASED IT services provider, Skanco Business Systems Limited celebrated the launch of a new website designed to further expose the company’s well established commercial offerings as well as showcase its new rebranding project.

A party was held at Douglas’ new business innovation hub, The Forum, to celebrate the launch and included the exhibition of one of a series of 10 commissioned PCB or Printed Circuit Board sculptures created by New York artist, Steven Rodrig.

Entitled ‘Skancorium Circuitus Lizarium’, or ‘Larry’, the sculpture depicts a crested iguana which is constructed entirely from recycled computer parts and designed to represent the procurement section of Skanco’s service offerings.

As part of its overall branding strategy, Skanco has commissioned a number of Rodrig’s creations and has re-appropriated each to reflect a different facet of the company based on the characteristics and associations of each ‘species’. A hummingbird, recently named ‘Pixel’, for example, was created to represent the entire Skanco brand and is a fitting reflection of the pervasive presence of one of the Island’s most enterprising local businesses.

Managing Director, David Butterworth, said: ‘We are all pleased to finally unveil the new Skanco brand and website.

‘I believe IT companies need to provide something unusual or outside of what you expect to see with a new corporate brand and by commissioning the artist with the help of locally based brand directors, Ashgrove Marketing, we have achieved exactly that.

‘I would like to thank everyone who attended the launch and every one of our clients, all of whom have been crucial to Skanco reaching such an important stage in our continued development.’
