AN island resident has been appointed to run the new Ramsey Park Hotel set to open in summer.
As well as taking on Steve Dawson as general manager, the new hotel being built next to Mooragh Park in Ramsey will bring 15 jobs to the north of the island.
The multi-million pound 30-bedroom contemporary hotel, on schedule to open in mid-August, is owned by Manx resident tycoon Trevor Hemmings and comes under the Classic Lodges ‘Associate’ hotels umbrella.
It is being built as a condition made when Hemmings requested permission to pull down the Grand Island Hotel.
Each of the bedrooms will have views of Mooragh Park, the lake and/or the sea.
The venue will also host the 50-seated Lake View Restaurant for both hotel guests and non-resident diners.
Steve, a resident of Douglas for more than 30 years, is relishing the challenge of getting the hotel up and running.
He said: ‘I have worked in the hospitality industry for many years but this is the first time I have been involved from the very beginning and it is incredibly exciting to have an input into how the hotel will operate.’
‘And I am sure that with the fine food we will be serving, and its impressive location on the shore of the lake, the Lake View Restaurant will soon be a favourite for locals and visitors alike,’ he added.
Richard Grime, managing director of Classic Lodges, said: ‘I have no doubt that Ramsey Park will become its own modern-day classic.’
The hotel’s website {http://www.ramseyparkhotel.com.ramseyparkhotel.com} went live on June 18.
Bookings are now being taken.
