DOUGLAS Council’s opening hours for the Tynwald Day and Diamond Jubilee bank holidays have been announced.

The Isle of Man will celebrate its national day on Thursday, July 5, as usual. The following day will be a bank holiday too, to mark the Queen’s 60 years on the throne. The UK’s jubilee bank holiday took place last week while the Isle of Man remained at work.

The opening hours are:

Borough Treasurer’s Payments Counter: closed on July 5 and 6.

Douglas Town Hall Reception (including Housing Office in John Street): closed July 5 and 6.

There will be no reduction or change to normal domestic refuse collection services.

Kerbside Collection Service: no collections on July 5 or 6. Domestic recyclable waste can be taken to the bring sites at the Grandstand, Shoprite in Victoria Road and Tesco. All collections are as listed in the new calendar. Householders who don’t have a calendar should telephone 696450.

Eastern Civic Amenity Site: open every day from 8am to 4pm, except Tynwald Day.

Henry Bloom Noble Library: closed July 5 and 6, re-open Saturday.

The cemetery office at Glencrutchery Road will close at 3.50pm on July 4 and re-open for enquiries on Saturday from 9am to 11am.

Douglas Development Partnership Office: July 5 and 6 closed, re-open Monday, July 9, normal hours.
