THE government is testing a centralised pupil data system.
The system, which cost £267,500 with annual costs of £44,000, is on trial at Onchan School and Castle Rushen High.
In a written response to a question from Speaker of the House of Keys Steve Rodan, Education Minister Peter Karran MHK said: ‘We have struggled to make evidence-based decisions other than at single school level and have not been able to set policy based on evidence as well as we could.’
He said data compiled would be more secure under this system.
And it would enable early intervention, for example, where a student’s attendance slips below a specified limit through automated triggers.
