John Spellman, the island’s director of financial services, said: ‘With the Isle of Man leading the march towards global tax transparency and international compliance these awards demonstrate great confidence in the Isle of Man’s financial services sector at a time when the global landscape for financial services continues to evolve.
‘We have been working hard with industry over the past year to help them deliver innovative and excellent products so I’m therefore delighted that the Isle of Man has performed so well against its major competitors.’
The Isle of Man itself was awarded Highly Commended in the Best International Finance Centre category.
Mr Spellman said: ‘Given the competitiveness of this category to be Highly Commended for “Best International Finance Centre” is very encouraging. It reinforces the Isle of Man Government’s commitment to promoting its financial and professional services sector, which represents over a third of our economy employing nearly 7,000 people.
‘We continue to work closely with our local industry partners to further develop the Island’s successful and well-respected Financial Services industry. Furthermore, this will help build on the Isle of Man’s existing reputation as a centre with pragmatic regulation, consumer protection and where sophisticated investors can place their money with confidence, with experts they can trust and in an environment which meets their needs.’
Now in their 15th year, the International Fund and Product Awards are in honour and recognition of groups who are at the cutting edge of distributing financial products and services internationally.
