Any defects with the latest roadworks to hit problems will be inspected – and made good by the contractor at its own cost.
Infrastructure Minister Laurence Skelly gave the assurance after he was shown photographs of drains and water main stopcocks blocked by asphalt following resurfacing of Finch Road, Douglas.
Mr Skelly MHK said: ‘The contractor had only just finished relaying of that section. The department will be going out and inspecting the work that has been done. We’ve had complaints with regard to the tarmac and if there are problems with the drainage as well we will take that up with the contractor.
‘If there are any defects, our contracts are written to protect the taxpayer. The private contractor will be responsible to remedy and defects at their own cost.’
