Peel lifeboat in yacht rescue

Peel lifeboat was called out at 10pm last night to rescue two people on a yacht.

The yacht ‘Cruachan’ was in difficulty 20 miles west off Peel.

It had suffered multiple gear failure whilst on a passage from Portaferry, Northern Ireland, to Peel in fine weather.

The yacht was reached first by Portaferry lifeboat and then taken in tow by Peel lifeboat and safely docked in Peel Harbour at 1.15am.

Coxswain on the ‘Ruby Clery’ was John Hunter assisted by 2nd Coxswain/Mechanic Paul Cain and the rest of the RNLI volunteer crew.
