A week of special exclusive screenings of Road will take place at Broadway Cinema, Douglas, during the TT.
The film, created by by Diarmuid Lavery and Michael Hewitt, tells the story of Northern Irish motorcycling dynasty the Dunlops, namely Joey and and his brother Robert, and Robert’s sons William and Michael.
Narrated by Liam Neeson, Road is an adrenaline-fuelled tale of a family who have dominated road racing for over 30 years.
Robert and Joey Dunlop – quiet men from rural village Ballymoney – were racers who risked everything to win while William and Michael are two of the world’s leading road racers today – young men determined to continue a family tradition.
Road features action, candid race day scenes and a ‘gripping’ narrative. It tells the story of two generations of one family that has been united by both success and tragedy.
The film will be screened from tomorrow (Friday) until Thursday, June 5. The film doesn’t open in UK cinemas until Wednesday, June 11.
Broadway Cinema, located within the Villa Marina, Douglas, will have two screenings daily at 4.30pm and 9.45pm.
David Cretney MHK, member of the Department of Economic Development, said: ‘I am proud that we have managed to secure special exclusive screenings of Road for TT 2014.
‘The Dunlop family have long been close friends of mine and are legends in the Isle of Man as well as back home in Northern Ireland and have contributed so much to the sport.
‘I’m sure that these screenings will be very popular so my advice would be to book early to ensure the best chance of securing tickets.’
Ticket prices are £7.50 for adults and £5.50 for those under 15 years old.
A family ticket for two adults and two under-15s costs £22.
Tickets can be booked online at villagaiety.com and are also available by calling 600555 and in person at the Villa Marina reception or the Welcome Centre at the Sea Terminal, Douglas.
Road was first shown at the 14th annual Belfast Film Festival last month, and was attended by Michael and William Dunlop.
