Police have arrested a local man in connection with an alleged assault in Ballsalla in the early hours of this morning.
The following statement has been issued by the police.
At approximately 2.30AM in Clagh Vane, Ballasalla on Sunday 18th May 2014, a disturbance took place in the street, following a party in one of the nearby houses.
As a result of the incident, a local man received very serious injuries and is currently being treated in hospital for his injuries.
Detective Inspector Mark Newey leading the investigation said, “We know that there were a number of people in the street and it was noisy at the time. The road in Clagh Vane is in the shape of a horseshoe and this incident took place in the left hand side of that horseshoe near the bottom junction. I would ask anyone that was present when it took place and has not yet come forward to the Police through our enquiries today or anyone who saw the incident because they were walking past, or from a house or passing car to contact the Police to help piece together what took place.
A local man has been arrested in connection with this incident and is currently being held at Police headquarters.
Search trained officers were in the vicinity this afternoon and there is no risk posed to the wider public at this time.”
Anyone wishing to contact the Police can do so at their local station or by calling the switchboard on 631212.
