Island entrepreneur Lynne Morgan believes she has sniffed out a business winner which revolves around her love of dogs.

Lynne, 47, has launched a new enterprise called Woof-Box.

A subscription service, Woof-Box offers a box of goodies for pooches across the British Isles.

And she says the company prides itself on first class customer service which will keep tails wagging across the British Isles.

Lynne, who has a home in Santon, told Business News the Woof-Box is like a Graze box for canines. Graze is a healthy treat subscription service for people and Lynne felt she could do something similar for our dogs.

She revealed that although the business has not been going for long she has secured quite a following with favourable reviews hitting the Woof-Box Facebook site.

At the moment she is concentrating her efforts on the British Isles and Europe although there are people in Australia who are keen for her to ship there.

And she revealed she is finalising a deal with a five-star dog friendly hotel in London, who plan to supply Woof-Boxes in rooms.

Other deals are set to be in the offing as Lynne pursues new customers. And her two beloved pet dogs are her product testers.

They are Millie, her rescued working Cocker Spaniel and Molly, a Border Terrier.

Her daughter Kate helps when she is home from York University and her partner, Dr Adam Balen, professor of gynaecology and reproductive medicine, is great for brainstorming ideas and helping to pack the boxes.

‘But day-to-day it’s just me and my dogs.’

She told how the business came about: ‘My daughter Kate and I subscribe to Graze Box. One day last summer we were sitting in the garden with our dogs, munching on our healthy Graze Box snacks and my daughter said: ‘‘Wouldn’t it be great if there was a graze box for dogs?’’

‘I immediately saw an idea for a business. I regularly go to Crufts and other large trade fairs where small producers exhibit their wares.

‘Over the years I’ve come across many wonderful, unusual, natural and healthy doggie products at these trade fairs and my dogs loved them.

‘My mission is to sniff out and deliver all the wonderful products out there, into the homes of dog-owners everywhere.’

Lynne has sourced more than 1,000 different products including special treats, biscuits, quirky toys, grooming products and training aids.

She came to live in the island when she was 10. She attended Ramsey Grammar and then Isle of Man College where she completed a business studies course.

She owned and ran her own engineering business at Balthane, Ballasalla, called BMS International Ltd, and sold this late last year before pursuing her new entrepreneurial venture.

Lynne, who divides her time between the island and the Peak District in the UK, says Isle of Man customers get free delivery.

Lynne says a key element of Woof-Box is a rating system customers can use which make the boxes personalised.

Asked if she would consider going on BBC’s Dragons Den she told Business News: ‘No, I can take care of my own marketing and business development.

‘On Dragons Den you have to give up a significant part of the shareholding in return for a dragon’s marketing and development skills.

‘I don’t feel I need that as I have managed and grown my own businesses for over 21 years.

‘Plus, I like to maintain control of my own destiny and profits.’

She added: ‘Delivering happiness to dogs everywhere is our slogan and this is what we aim to do.’
