Keen young singers interested in joining a choir are invited to a taster workshop with The Manx Children’s Choir.

The choir has been run by Adele Parsons on behalf of the Department of Education’s Music Service since it started in 2003. Open to boys and girls in school years four to nine (ages eight to 14), it meets in Ballacottier School hall from 7-8pm every Thursday during term time.

Music includes pop with Emeli Sande and Snow Patrol, songs from musicals, sacred and classical works by John Rutter and Chilcott, and church music.

‘Children experience unison and part singing and they have a lot of fun singing as a collective choir of youngsters,’ Adele said.

The choir has performed in church services and community concerts, and is currently working towards a performance with Rushen Silver Band at Castletown Methodist Church on May 22, at 8pm, and will be taking part in the next Children in Song event on June 14, and entertaining as part of the flower festival.

The taster workshop takes place on Thursday from 7pm at Ballacottier School.
