London City booking ‘delay’ result of news leak

BA CityFlyer insist that extra flights will be available on the London City route – despite passengers being unable to book them yet.

Readers contacted our newsdesk to point out the promised three flights daily to London City are still not bookable.

A spokesman for British Airways said: ‘The reason for the delay in loading the flights into the selling system is because the news was leaked ahead of any formal announcement. Usually we issue a press release once everything is ready to go on sale. However, on this occasion the news got out before this was done.

‘We are just in the process of finalising flights for the summer schedule and expect the additional services from and to the Isle of Man to commence at the start of the summer season at the end of March. We will make a formal announcement once these flights are available to book.’

Flights to London City were cut to one a day in September, sparking concern for this vital air link among the island’s business community. Infrastruture Minister David Cretney told Tynwald in December that frequency would return to three flights a day in the spring.
