Breast surgeon Millie Bello is pictured cutting the pink ribbon to mark the official launch of a £600,000 public appeal for a dedicated breast cancer unit.
As the Isle of Man Examiner reported this week, the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group’s appeal was launched at Douglas railway station last Friday evening with a fundraising steam-pulled excursion to Castletown.
Guests enjoyed a three-course dinner in dining cars specially decorated with pink sashes and roses.
Charity president Brenda Cannell MHK said: ‘The launch was a fabulous success. We had a raffle on the night which raised £600 for the breast unit.
‘It was quite an emotional start to the evening with some shedding tears after my and Millie’s opening speeches, but nevertheless a very happy event with those participating excited as to the prospect of us raising those vital funds for a brand new breast unit.’
