Police have arrested a man and a woman on suspicion of committing prostitution offences within premises in Douglas.
Investigative inquiries continue, officers said. However, they confirmed that there were no further suspects to be arrested.
Detective Sergeant Darren Hughes said: ‘This is an unusual and rare incident that is under investigation. While it is believed that the public are not at any risk, there is an expectation that such matters are properly and appropriately investigated.’
Inspector Mark Britton of the Douglas-based central neighbourhood policing team, said: ‘The central neighbourhood policing team works with the community on a lot of levels in respects of these kinds of activities.
‘The public should be reassured that the constabulary have acted on this issue.
‘I would like to reiterate that people should report any matters to the police that concern them and help us to do our work. On this occasion people have been arrested and we hope that there will not be a reoccurrence of any such activity in the future.’
The arrests took place on Thursday.
