The Isle of Man Constabulary is celebrating its 150th anniversary with an exhibition of its history at Castle Rushen.

It is open from tomorrow (Friday) until September 13, from 10am to 5pm.

Chief constable Gary Roberts said it was ‘a really important milestone in our history’, saying: ‘It was only perhaps when we stepped back and started to look at the past in a little more detail, it became apparent just how many great stories and anecdotes we have to tell.

‘In putting together this exhibition, we have come across some remarkable tales, and treasured artefacts which have perhaps pointed out some lessons from history, and the fact that despite our ever-changing, fast paced modern world, the fundamentals of policing remain the same.’

Quotes from an 1879 booklet ‘Isle of Man Constabulary Force Instructions’ will be published on the police social media channels over the exhibition period.
