Manx staff working with the Autism Initiatives charity have been able to develop thanks to a partnership with a Liverpool-based training company.
Limited spaces each term at the Isle of Man College in Douglas led to the link with CTS Training Limited, who visit the island to help staff work through diplomas.
Following a recent visit of CTS assessors, Autism Initiatives’ Chrissie Holdaway took the opportunity to thank them, saying the partnership is ‘producing some excellent results for our dedicated staff’.
Chrissie explained that Autism Initiatives in the island has a lot more staff than the two or three a year that could be accepted for development training at the college.
‘All staff require that development, and it’s hard asking people to wait,’ said Chrissie.
‘We now have the opportunity to get groups trained together.’
She said since working in the island CTS have completed eight level two Health and Social Care diplomas with Autism staff, some of whom are now progressing, and some staff – including Chrissie have now completed a Level 5 Diploma in ‘Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services’, training for which has not been previously available in the island.
‘We currently have seven level two, six level three and three Level 5 candidates working towards completion. This is great for us and of course for our staff too,’ said Chrissie.
