The road behind Marks and Spencer in Douglas will close during the evenings for resurfacing work from Monday.
Market Street and Nelson Street will be closed from 6pm until midnight from July 29 until August 12 each evening or until the surfacing work is completed, whichever is the earlier
The resurfacing work will take place from the northern boundary of the Marks and Spencer building to the junction with Victoria Street.
The evening-only road closure has been planned in order to try and minimise the disruption to motorists.
Traffic flow will be as normal during the day.
The Department of Infrastructure apologised for any inconvenience caused by these works.
Infrastructure Minister David Cretney MHK told iomtoday: ‘This is a high profile, much-used section of roadway and these works are long overdue.
The carriageway outside Marks and Spencer is a patchwork quilt and very uneven, and I am delighted we are able to undertake these works.’
