Police are investigating an act of vandalism at the island’s private school.

Between 4pm on Friday and 8am on Saturday, 10 to 15 windows were damaged at the cricket pavilion at King William’s College, Castletown.

A police spokesman said: ‘This is a real shame and will now cost an educational establishment, that hosts sporting events for local schools as well as further afield, significantly to replace these windows.’

Constable Kieran Callister is looking for any help that could identify those responsible.

Sergeant Paul Kemp said: ‘Not only is this a criminal matter but somebody could have been seriously hurt.

‘Damage appears to have been done by young people. We would be really grateful for any help that could be given to identify those responsible, if nothing else than to try to prevent a young person or people going off the rails and their crimes escalating in the future.

‘We will obviously be enhancing our patrols in the area and surrounding as not only is this a criminal matter but somebody could have been seriously hurt.’

Contact the police by phone on 822222, 832222, 631212 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
