The Diana Princess of Wales Care at Home Trust has presented £20,000 to Hospice at Home.

Chairman of the Trust Ron Spencer: ‘We’re hugely grateful for all the support we’ve received to help provide a dedicated ‘Diana Nurse’ for the service in the island, and in particular we’re indebted to the commitment of Lloyds TSB for a range of ongoing fundraising efforts.’

Lloyds TSB is encouraging employees to donate their time as well as their money to a series of events which took place throughout the year, including a charity quiz night at Bar George hosted by guest quiz master Stuart Baggs, who found fame in TV’s The Apprentice.

There was also cake bakes, charity auction dinners, an annual golf day, a colleague baton race between Lloyds TSB branches and three Lloyds TSB colleagues - Jo Wright, Scott Beecroft and Jamie Hayes.

They even took part in the Good Friday Race, a gruelling ten kilometre run on Port Erin and Port St. Mary’s notoriously hilly roads.

Hospice chief executive Margaret Simpson thanked the trust and added that without the Diana Trust‘s support providing a Hospice at Home service would be difficult.

Having a dedicated ‘Diana Nurse’ funded by the trust makes a big difference to patients who would like to be nursed and cared for in their own home rather than being admitted to hospice or hospital.

The part-time ‘Diana nurse’ is Barbara Lawton.
