The film biopic of Winnie-the-Pooh creator AA Milne to be shot in the Isle of Man next year is said to be ‘targeting an A-list cast.’
The project is being backed by Pinewood Studios, and is estimated to cost between £6.5 million and £10 million.
Goodbye Christopher Robin is one of two recently-announced features coming to the island as part of the Pinewood partnership, the first being thriller Take Down, which follows a group of school students’ struggle with kidnappers.
It is due to start filming in September, overseen by I Know What You Did Last Summer director Jim Gillespie.
Shooting for Goodbye Christopher Robin will begin in summer 2014, and charts the life of the English author and playwright between 1918 and the 1930s.
Written by Simon Vaughan, the scriptwriter behind BBC programme Ripper Street, the film charts the difficult relationship between the father and his son, who inspired the creation of Winnie-the-Pooh and Christopher Robin.
It will explore the impact of celebrity on the young Robin Milne, who saw his soft toy collection transformed into some of children’s literature’s most famous characters.
