A new music festival is to take place at Jurby during next year’s TT fortnight.

Motofest 2014 will feature local bands as well as groups from the UK, there will be camping and a range of other attractions including stunt riders, sprint and drag racing and motocross.

Originally planned to take place near to the Creg-ny-Baa at this year’s TT, the event was shelved because of concerns about access to the site for emergency vehicles.

Tina Carter, one of the organisers said the rescheduled event which will take place at the Jurby race circuit was to be even bigger and better with camping available for up to 1,000 people over the two weeks and even transport for those wishing to venture beyond Jurby.

‘It is only three miles from the TT Course and we hope to have a selection of good tribute bands as well as the best of the local bands,’ she said.

The festival is to run from the Wednesday of practice week through to the Friday of race week and will feature live timing and commentary from the racing as well as web cam shots broadcast on to big screens from Kirk Michael, Parliament Square and Glen Vine to add to the atmosphere. There will also be a beer tent, food outlets, audience participation competitions and exotic dancers. Organisers hope to attract both locals and visitors. Some proceeds will go to the marshals’ association and some to the Anderas Racing Association. The website motofest.im will be live shortly.
